The Chosen Adventures, the new animated series from the writers of The Chosen, will premiere on 17 October on Prime Video in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Latin America, and sub-Saharan Africa.
The new audiovisual production tells the story of Abby, a 9-year-old girl, and her best friend, Joshua, as they journey through life in the Galilean city of Capernaum around the year 30 AD.
“When the children encounter a wise craftsman and teacher, Jesus of Nazareth, he changes the way they see the world. And did we mention that she has a talking sheep?” says the film official synopsis.
The 14-episode series features Jonathan Roumie (The Chosen) as the voice of Jesus, and other cast members from the series, including Paras Patel, Brandon Potter, Noah James, and George H. Xanthis, also reprise their roles from The Chosen.
An idea brought to life
Dallas Jenkins, creator, writer, and director of The Chosen said that the idea for a children's story came in the early days of the popular series.
“When we were first devising Season 1, I remember specifically saying, ‘I’d love to do an episode where we are really spending time with Jesus and we are seeing Him through the eyes of children. We did have this thought of, ‘Boy, it would be interesting to kind of dive deeper, like what happens to those kids after they have met Jesus” , he said when he announced the production.
